I am writing to confirm a conclusion of mine. Is it true that, if one were to add a stiffening ring within the required distance of the shell to cone juncture, and the half apex angle of the cone is greater than 30 degress, COMPRESS will not analyze the additional reinforcement of the ring in concert with the stress evaluation it performs? In other words, would it just ignore the stiffening ring?

No. Not true.
