Any idea about an estimated price for a Stainless steel tank. For water capacity 400,000. Gallons

Thanks
Pat

Some of the tank companies have estimators for this.
Duplex SS has taken over the tank business. It is very strong so you can use thinner plate.
Often thin enough to work with coiled plate which greatly reduces the amount of welding.
In some cases I have seen a single vertical weld per 60" high course.

My guess:

- Tank should be flat bottom, of API650 or AWWA construction

- About 36 ft diameter and 40 foot shell

- For all stainless construction at ~$6.00/lb ---approximately $700K to $850 K
( this does not include the costs of foundation... which can be substantial)

- For mild steel construction, at ~$3.50/lb --- approximately $400K to $550K
( You must add in the foundation costs and costs for interior/exterior painting systems)

This is only a ballpark estimate...
