We are likely to be undertaking a design for a building in India. This will be a first for us as our previous projects have been in the UK and Middle East.
The building will be steel framed but our preliminary research shows that Indian Standard rolled steel sizes only go up to 600mm depth for beams. We will need beams of 800 to 1000mm depth (We have done some basic calcs using UK steel sizes).
Can anyone advise what is the norm for India. Do we use sections made up of plates or imported steel sections?
We are currently obtaining the Indian design codes and will be contacting an Indian partner to assist in the work but it would be good to understand what this project will entail before we commit to the immpossible!
