Steel forgings materials 1

Hello to you all.

I would like to know which materials are commonly used for steel forgings in the automotive/truck industry?

I know this questions vage, but i would just like to know what materials are common, a rough indication of what is being used in the field so to say.

Also, since i'm studying this topic, any tips on good references would also be great.
