I am looking for some resources for specifying or designing steel floor plate. I have an industrial application that calls for steel checker plate for the floor to match existing adjacent construction. I can provide supports as needed to limit spans. I need a 60 psf live load.

Look up roarks for plate deflection formulii, deflection will always govern.

The NAAMM Metal Stairs Manual is a good source of info on floor plate. 1/4" will span about 4' with your load but the deflection will be over an inch. Since deflection governs, what is your criteria?

Existing construction is 12 ga checker plate.
It has supports in both directions 2 ft to 3 ft o.c.
The existing structure was erected without engineering.
I now am trying to match or get as close as I can.

Note that checker plate, contrary to popular belief, is slippery stuff, especially when wet. It's common to coat it with a grit type coating to provide traction and try and avoid lawsuits!

If you "heard" it on the internet, it's guilty until proven innocent. - DCS

The 13th Edition of AISC has some useful floor plate properties and span charts.

As mentioned earlier, Roark has some good stuff in it as well.
