Hi guys,
I have an issue where I have assigned some auto select lists for ETABS and have ETABS run the steel design on these members for strength and deflection.
When ETABS spits out the member designs, there are almost always a very uneconomical size. I overwrite these sizes by selecting a lower size, and run the design again, and the lower size still passes all the checks ETABS does. So why does ETABS select an uneconomical size?
1. I could reduce my auto select lists by taking out the larger sized members, but then that defeats the purpose of having an auto select list.
2. I have gone through the design preferences many times, and I can't see what i've done wrong/it seems normal.
Any solutions to this?
Thank you.
