Can anyone recommend a steel connection design software that they have had success with? I have been using LIMCON, but would like to see what else is productive. RISA has just come out with a connection software, but it is very limited in that it only accommodates W shapes at right angles.

I am working in Canada, so a software with Canadian Codes would be most beneficial.

Thanks.

I have used RAM Connection and really like it...I don't think it supports Canadian codes though...

i've used descon and it's good. i also have RAM connection but it's integrated with my staad software and i find it hard to use. maybe the standalone is better were you just put loads instead of the one in staad.

DesconWin and DesconBrace are undoubtedly the best available in the market.

I like RAM Connection. I use it stand-alone and integrated with RAM Elements and RAM Structural System. The newest version designs base plates and anchors per 318 Appendix D also.

Does anyone remember how to use a pencil anymore?

Pencil you say, I looked on Wiki, but I do not quite understand this device. Is this some sort of APP for my blackberry? :-D

I like to make my own spreadsheets that way you can change them as need be.

ANY FOOL CAN DESIGN A STRUCTURE. IT TAKES AN ENGINEER TO DESIGN A CONNECTION.”
