Steam Solenoid

I am trying to locate a small diameter (1/4") valve for a pilot line of a steam regulator. The possible process conditions are 320psig and 650 deg F (normally 130psig and 350deg F). I've tried all the usual suspects and I can't find any manufacturer who can supply a controlled valve. Any manufacturer ideas? Its used for shutting off S/H steam flow to the valve head in case of equipment failure.

I do not know of a solenoid valve that will be reliable at your pressure and temperature. However, an actuated ball valve may work (although smallest size is 1/2"). Look at, for example, Velan metal seated ball valve.

We have a 1/2 inch solenoid steam valve which controls steam at only 50 psi and we find it necessary to renew the valve every 18 months approx due to failure of solenoid, despite everything the manufacturer says. I guess you will have a problem at your conditions. Cheers David W

probably not a good idea to implement the interlock that you've described. reliability is an issue.

You could use a valve like this in the steam line. All you need to do is tie in a solenoid valve to the air supply side to trip the valve shut.
