Hello everybody. I need to perform a static analysis within elastic range for a part made of polypropylene.

Could someone help me with the material properties?
Should the analysis be non-linear?

Thanks!

Aldo

Hi,

I would say 'yes' to your question should the analysis be non-linear.

Assuming that you will probably get large displacements (geometric nonlinearity) from any applied load you will need non-linear analysis to account for this at the very least.

Next consideration may be that you will be loading into the non-linear material range of polypropylene.

For material properties try as a starting point. But would recommend you go to your material supplier for more precise info. As you will see under the general material description for polypropylene on matweb the potential variance for a specific property is considerable.

Hope that helps...
