While I'm waiting for my Roark's formulas to be shipped, hopefully someone here at eng-tips can help me find an equation.

I'm designing a tool that stakes an NAS 1198-3-6 rivet that has a .042-.048 DIA hole drilled in the tip to a depth of .045-.065. This leaves a wall thickness of about .0275-.0225. I will be using a punch on a pneumatic cylinder to fold this wall over, thus staking the rivet. I need to find the force required to fold the rivet in order to size the pnuematic cylinder.

Could someone please find the equation to find the required force when applying the load to a circular edge?

Thanks in advance,

--Scott
