STAAD Crashing

I have an older version of STAAD. For the past few months it has been hit or miss in regards to getting through an analysis. Is seems about 30% of the time it is crashing. I'm not entirely sure, but it might only occur when I am attempting to do a direct analysis method. Is anyone else having problems? The solution is to probably update the program but that is going to cost a ton of money to get something that I shouldn't need.

That's a bit vague. If you can send a model that crashes (somewhat) consistently and let me know the version you are using I can probably find out for sure if there is a known solution.

Seth,

I took a screen capture of the error and the text file from the analysis (which are attached below MS word document). It is completely random whether the model triggers the error or not. If I run this model again it might make it through, it might not. The error started popping up a few months ago. I am using an older version of STAAD (V8i I think).

The files are stored on a local drive and I have had a node locked license for the past few years as I'm not interested in the upgrading at the moment. So the solutions offered of upgrade to V8i SS6 (select series?) 6 I don't think is an option. This is a problem that has popped up in the last few months on a computer that has been using the program without problems for 4+ years.

OK, So on a whim I decided to copy the files to a separate folder on my hard drive. This is a new folder that isn't continuously backed up by a local cloud drive. I installed a network cloud drive a few months ago (which might be when the problems started). The problem would appear about 30% of the time. I just ran the same frame 10 times and I did not get a single error. So I am wondering if it has something to do with the files being continuously backed up.

If you send your file across I can at least confirm if it is the same issue with the GLD parameter.

I think you are on the right track. Something about the cloud backup is causing the files to be restricted in the same way that saving to a network drive affects the program. Virus scanners could probably cause the same symptom too.
