Dear All,

I have some question about stainless material testing, special the material subject to PWHT.

Pressure vessel with SS321 material including pipe and flange.
All impact test requirement exempt from all rule of code, except UHA-51(c).
The pressure vessel to be perform PWHT.
Question 1: As per UHA-51(c), the impact testing shall perform following UHA-51(a) , that including base metal, welds, and HAZ impact test only?
Question 2: The impact testing required by UHA-51(c) depended on PWHT (not note 82 mentions base and weld metal), it can be exempt from WPS/PQR with impact test?
Question 3: UHA-51(c) impact test timing can be used production testing to instead of?
Question 4: UHA-51(c) impact testing can be used exist WPS/PQR with impact test to instead of?

Does an austenitic stainless require impact testing?
Why would you PWHT a stabilized stainless?
What temperature do you intend to use?

Dear EdStainless,

Sometimes, the cladding vessel (carbon steel plus stainless steel clading) shall apply small nozzle in Stainless material.
And the base metal, carbon steel, shall be PWHT whole parts together.
Therefore, the stainless steel shall be PWHT together as above condition.
And the code request will be occured.

Is the cladding used in the design calculations to determine vessel thickness? If not, UHA-51 is not relevant.
