Hi All:

In our property's spa steam room has a concealed sprinkler head installed for fire protection. The challenge that we are facing is that every couple of months, sprinklers brass body and painted concealing plate start to rust and need to be replaced.

We already tried to search for sprinkler heads and covers that are prepared for permanent or semi-permanent wet environments and couldn't find anything.
Also, I was thinking and I can't understand the purpose of having a sprinkler head where there are no combustible or flammable materials and when 12 hours/day the relative humidity is close to 100% so the fire or fire propagation probability on that area is very low.
I'm going through NFPA and IBC codes (not yet finished) but couldn't find any clear direction on this special situation.

Any thoughts on this?
Thanks.

While there's no universal corrosion-resistant finish, special coatings produced in accordance with NFPA 13 (2019: sections 3.3.205.4.3 and 6.2.6) extend the life of key components in places like indoor swimming facilities, steam rooms, and coastal hotels, as well as factories and industrial spaces where corrosive vapors are present. Tyco's white polyester coating, used with pendent sprinklers in the TY-B family of 5.6K quick and standard response sprinklers, is both UL and C-UL-listed for corrosion-resistance.
