Hi,
A bracket is projection welded (R3mm) to a part with a weld pitch of 18mm. I would like to put a 3-sheet 12mm spot weld directly between the two projection welds (slightly offset from the centerline) to bond this assembly to another panel. I realize that due to the small pitch between the spot weld and the projection welds, there will almost definitely be some current diversion. Is there a way to predict the weld strength of the spot weld though? We just need to hold the parts together. It is not a critical weld, but I would like to put a spec on it.
Please see the attached diagrams for details.
Thanks in advance!
