Hi All,
When doing analysis on big size structure, the way is to split a small piece of solid out from structure, of course, the interested stress area located on this solid, later bonds it together with structure later. In this case, the finer mesh can be given to the small solid so that accurate results can be obtained. The way I saw to use for IIW fatigue analysis quite often such as hot spot or effective notch methods. The question is how to define the minimum split-out solid size and the ratio of meshes around it in case to bring high stiffness by around structure. Any body knows the rule to define it, like ASME 5sqrt(rt)?
Thanks!
David
