What’s the best way of removing a spirol from a blind hole? The current procedure is to tap into the spirol pin and just pull the tap upwards in the hope that it will have enough grip on the spirol pin. Are there an specific tools for the job?
As posted above the recommendation to use EDM I would add that using an Electro Spark Machine might be less expensive. We use this equipment extensively to remove H-11 fasteners, roll pins, and spirol pins. You might check the local machine shops, including auto and motorcycle shops as they often have remove bolts form Al.
There are a lot of these machines on the surplus market.
