Spiral for Deep Foundation ACI 318-19

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding spiral reinforcement detailing for deep foundations in accordance with ACI 318-19. Specifically, do the reinforcement detailing requirements of Section 25.7.3—particularly 25.7.3.1(b), which limits clear spacing to not more than 3 inches—apply to deep foundations?

I noticed that Table 18.13.5.7.1 provides different detailing requirements for transverse reinforcement in deep foundations. This seems to suggest that Chapter 25 provisions may not be directly applicable in this context.

Could anyone clarify whether the requirements in Chapter 25 are intended to apply to deep foundations, or if Chapter 18 provisions take precedence in such cases?

Refer to 13.4 Deep foundations.

-If the pile precast driven pile , ACI 318 specify min. longitudinal reinforcement , minimum transverse reinforcement size and spacing.
- If the pile is cast in place drilled or augered pile , ACI 318 refers to ACI 543R.

The transverse reinforcement is discussed in detail at ACI 543R Section 4.
