Can anyone tell me what the specific heat of the following mixture would be?
40% Water
40% Ethylene Glycol
20% Methanol

From Hysys - specific heat = 112.38 kJ/kgmole C

Thanks SeanB! Out of curiosity, how did you come up with that value?

I just ran a simulation in Hysys, using a basis of 1 kgmole/hr for flow and standard conditions ie 15 deg C and 101.3 kPa.

The specific heat of a mixture is simply equal to the sum of the s[ecific heats for each component x the volume fraction for each component.

The more you learn, the less you are certain of.
