spaceballs for solidworks

Does anyone know about spaceballs for solidworks. Is it good I never used it before. How does it work and howdo youintall it. I herd about it today and want to know if i should implement it with designers.

I don't know the movie but i do use a Spaceball.


When I was starting with 3D the company had aUnigraphics with a Spaceball. So from the start i am used to work with it and i won't do without it anymore.


The Spaceball is from http://www.3dconnexion.com If you get an USB version it's vey easy. Conncet it to your computer and install the software.


As you look at the price of $499 dollar it's a lot. One of the advantages is that you can do your work in a more relaxed way so you don't heart your hands and wrists. (RSI) .


An alternative for the Spaceball is the Astroid 6000 from http://www.spatialfreedom.com. Thisis a follow-up from the Spaceball. How this works I don't know yet. I do know that is a lot cheaper than the spaceball andI think that it should works as good as it.


These are the two product I know. If there are more products please let me know. (I'm interested in buy one for home)

The Space Pilot is the latest device from 3dconnexion. You can usually find an older model (Space Ball 4000 or 5000) on eBay for a pretty reasonable price. I got my old 4000 3 or 4 years ago on eBay for ~$140 including shipping.


They all work great with SolidWorks.
