I have noticed the same in sp 3.0. I never have displayed the origin in parts and have always been able to see the red origin in sketches. I will submit this to my VAR today.

gwubs ... I'm just curious ... what are you submitting to your VAR?

The fact that I can not see the red, snappable point in sketches in sp 3.0 any more. I read the other thread and I understand the discussion of the Origin and the red sketch point. I would like my red sketch point back, without having to turn on the origin.

BTY, the red sketch origin was selectable, was available to build relationships to, and I would like to have it back.

The only way you will see the red sketch origin is by selecting Origins in the View drop-down list.

Also please re-read thread559-181693 especially my last post.
The red sketch origin has never been selectable. It is the underlying main origin which is being selected.

SP3 did not change any settings of my SW install. It may have in yours. All you need do is hide the main origin in the FM tree and select origins in the View drop-down. Do that and save the templates for both part and assemblies and you will have what you want.

CBL - your repair does work. I, however do not want to edit the 50+ templates we have for various parts, and materials. I have not ever had origins turned on, and have always, since SW 2001, been able to see, select, and dimension to the red sketch origin. Until and including sw2007 sp 2.2 this has been so. If you have always had View origins turned on, you will not notice the change we are talking about.

Gerald

I can vouch for the issue....something has changed in 2007 (or one the SPs) that makes the origin no longer selectable depending on whether the origin is hidden or not. We have the origin in the tree hidden. When I start a sketch...the red sketch origin is visible, but the model global origin underneath is no longer selectable. You used to be able to select it, hidden or visible....the red sketch origin just gave you an idea of where to select at since its usually on top of it by default.

You must not use offset planes. The only way that you could or would be able to select the red sketch origin is if it lies on the model origin.

Yes..Gerald put it in a perfect way. If you have always had View origins turned on, you will not notice the change we are talking about.

For those who use the red origin to define the basic sketch, this change is quite frustrating. I hope they will fix it in the next SP!!

I will not upgrade the computers at work from 2.2 to 3.0 until they fix it!!!

Heckler,

I did search. However, if you notice those threads did not answer the question...Thanks!

This item is logged with SolidWorks. A call to our VAR has confirmed this. His e-mail to me as follows:

Hi Gerald,

To recap our conversation:

Before SP3- with View>Origins off, you could still see the red sketch origin in a new sketch, but not the blue model origins.
After SP3- with View>Origins off, you now can't see the sketch origin. Turning origins on shows the red origin, but also all blue origins in the sketch. To get a clean view, each blue origin needs to be individually hidden.

It looks like this has been reported under SPR 364822, and I will submit a request to have you added to the list for this issue.

You didn't ask for an answer! You asked has anyone else seen this problem.
