On the FEMA Map Service Center, they have a link to show historic flood maps, but for many communities no historic flood maps are listed (when I know they existed before). Any idea where to find outdated flood maps? I'd like to do some comparisons for a region I'm working in.

The local floodplain administrator may also have a repository of historic floodplain maps. It is often beneficial for growing communities to keep such records to see how development impacts their local floodplain areas. This information is useful in drafting new flood prevention ordinances.

Your mileage may vary, but our local city engineering departments keep the previous maps even after new ones are issued. I believe they have 2 or 3 previous maps representing 15-20 years of development and growth.
