Hello Friends

We have accidently mixed a large quantity of our surplus Stainless steel Miniature Ball bearings with many Chorme steel types.

Is their any simple home test by which we can seperate the 2 types in a way we do not damage our stocks

The dimensions are the same only the material is different.

SOS here..please help

Thanks for reading this guys

Gary

Assuming the stainless steel type bearings are austenitic a simple magnet should seperate them. However the chrome steel bearings may need to be demagnetized after seperation.

thanks for your reply
I tried that and found both stainless steel bearings and the chrome steel attract to the magnet. I used the copper sulphate solution to differntaite them but that would ruin all the bearings

It seems that your stainless steel berarings are not austenitic stainless steel. You should try PMI (Positive Material Identification).
