Im used to dealing with ASME code where tensile yeild and allowable stresses are clearly stated at various temperatures. Can someone explain to me how this handled in the SAE codes. Ive looked through them and the best i can find are "estimated" tensile and yield strength values from J1397. No where can i find a standard explaining how these values are reduced for designs at higher temperatures. Does such a standard exist? How do people who design SAE systems show calculations at higher temperatures? im particularly looking at 12L14 & 1045 Steel.
Thanks for any help,
