Assembly and all parts are on my working local drive, not network drive.

With the PDM add-in turned on opening a part from the assembly using (RMC) takes 17 seconds. With the PDM add-in turned off the part opens in 1 second.
Anyone else take 17 seconds with PDM turned on and 1 second when turned off?

I called our VAR and they think it maybe the network. We are on our own server with 1 Gig fiber optics.

Check your connection from your PC to the fiber-Optics jbox. A chance you do not have FO all the way to your pc.
In your "PDMWorks-Client Options". Try changing "Compare vault file view" from "File on disk" to "File in memory", see if any improvements.

Thanks for the ideas Chris,
I tried them all with no luck. I will have to put in a magic ticket for our IT department to check the fiber – Optics jbox.

Bradley,

I think your VAR is right; it sounds like a slow network connection.

I am working with our IT people. I did a ping to the server and it is fast. I did a tracert to our server and it is also fast. Tomorrow when everyone gets back in, I will test others machines with a ping and tracert.

Bradley,

I thought of something else. With SolidWorks shut down, try going into the registry and removing HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/SolidWorks. Then try restarting SolidWorks and see if you still have the same problem. You'll lose your menu placement, but in my experience, that method has fixed most instability issues. (I got that idea from Scott's FAQ about properly uninstalling SW.)

PDMAdmin,
You get a star for that one. Once done and not setting my swOptions that were saved sometime ago. Everything worked great.

Then I double clicked on my swOptions that I always used and liked. Opening went back to being slow while PDM add-in was turned on.
Now I tried the swOptions that I created for a system that was fast. That worked great, 1 second to open a part while PDM add-in was on.

Thank you,
So very much.
