HI,

This is my first of probably many posts, given that i just started using solidowrks at my internship, yes i am an intern.

One question i wanted to ask it, what is the difference between a straight tap and a hole in solidworks hole wizard?
I am trying to make a simple M3 screw hole and one option, straight tap, gives a hole that is exactly 3mm in diameter, while the hole option gives me a 3.4mm diameter.

Thanks

ok thanks!

so my best bet would be to use the "hole" option under "hole type" and "Tap drills" under the "type" drop down list, correct?

by doing this, it gives me a hole that is less than 3mm in diameter, about 2.5mm, is this correct?

Sorry if this is an easy question, but im really new at this.

ok.

so just to get this straight, a straigh tap hole, with cosmetic thread, cuts a hole with the size of the minor diameter, it calls out the thread size, then the final hole will have the diameter of the major diameter. Am i correct, or am i just completely confused?

thanks
