hello everyone.
whenever i move my mouse over the graphics area, even in an emty part, my CPU usage jumps to 50% which is the maximum for a multicore processor. is there a problem here or it's solidworks' normal behavior? (SW09/10,xp,7)

I checked mine, it goes upto 30% but remember
1.It is short lived spike.
2.it is only one core, other core is still sitting idle/unaffected.

Mine is SWX 2008 (WIN XP 64bit)

in my case, CPU usage remains 50% on one core until i stop hovering over graphics area. it means that while modeling my CPU usage is always at peak on one core.

Which graphics card (and driver) are you using? Sounds like some processing power that should go to the card is being put onto your CPU.

Check your processes to see if its SW using the CPU or maybe something else. We had a problem today that a file (even when not in use) when selected in explorer caused the another *.exe from SW (not SLDWORKS.exe) and it caused the CPU to stay at 50% until I killed the process. But of course if we clicked the file the process repeated.

We had to remove the file through a DOS prompt to stop this from happening. So checking the processes might help you find the solution.
