SolidWorks-friendly wireless mouse?

Can any of you suggest a full-size (or almost full-size) wireless mouse that plays well with SolidWorks? A couple of weeks ago, I ordered a Microsoft wireless mouse, but I had a lot of problems with the wheel, and the newer M$ drivers wouldn't let me turn off wheel settings like the old Intellipoint drivers would.

Are the Logitech mice any better?

I have a 2 different Logitech cordless mice, that I use with SW, they both work very well. I like them a lot.

I've got a Logitech MX 510. The current equivalent is MX 518. It's considered a gaming mouse. I wasn't sure if I'd really like it that much over the standard mouse, but now I feel that it was worth every penny. The fit to my (right) hand is great. And the driving reason for getting it was the additional 5 buttons. All 8 buttons are programmable. So I've got the standard 3 buttons, [Enter], [Ctrl], [Ctrl]+[Shift], Isometric view, and Normal View all available at my mouse.

As for cordless, I've believe that the MX 610 is about the equivalaent of the mouse I use. I've never used a cordless mouse daily, but my limited exposure to them left me feeling that they were heavy.

I use the Logitech MX 610 and really love it. It has a small USB receiver, which I found really helps to plug into the front port of the computer (elinates a great deal of EMI between the mouse and rear of the computer--much better performance that way).

Also, strangely enough, I recently tried using a mouse pad that came with my latest system from Xi. For a few years, I've shunned such practice as kludgey. However, my mouse cursor jumped a bit on the screen once in a while and was driving me nuts. The mouse pad has a slick hard surface--not the neoprene type--which makes the mouse almost float in movement. I would never go back to my former practice since the mouse cursor is very fast and very controllable. I highly recommend this mouse with this set-up.

I don't use this at work, but at home for everything. It's a laser - not optical - so the performance is just better. It is a little bit heavy, but that's what you pay for having on-board batteries. Plenty of programmable buttons too.

(Don't pay $80 for this, I got it for $35 on Amazon)

I have the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 and it plays well with SW. It has a resolution of 1,000 dpi, and an imaging rate of 6000 frames per second, so the response is faster than a corded mouse. My only gripe is that one of the thumb-buttons is just a little too far for comfort.

...actually know about that. That's part of the problem--newer versions of the Intellipoint drivers don't let you disable wheel settings in specific programs. For all y'all that might be using M$ mice, the Intellipoint 3.1 drivers are the way to go.

Here at work, I have an Optical Intellimouse, but I haven't had any problems with it or the wireless 6000 mouse. Apparently some were having problems with M$ after reading thread559-144367. In the mouse properties I am using "Enable Program Specific Settings", so I don't know if that is why it works for me.

The Logitech 610 is what I use as well. The software for it is great as well, allowing button assignment per application. So with SW I can disable the left and right scroll options, but still use them in other applications. I assign other buttons for escape and control only in SW as well. I have been using this mouse for a few months and would recommend it highly. Tracking, battery life and all other functions are great as well.

I went with the MX 610... just arrived today. Very awesome product. Nicely designed, feels great in the hand. As Daniel noted above post, being able to assign different functions per application is very handy. Most important the fine control over the cursor is very good.

The one preference I can't seem to find is how to make the wheel rotate objects in SW. It zooms models in and out just fine, but I've looked for the preference to change to rotation when the wheel is fully depressed. Tried in control panel, the Logitech Setpoint software, and in SW system options...... Can anyone help here where that preference might be??

follow up from last post. Found the right preference to use the middle wheel to rotate model.

Middle button>other>under select task choose "middle button".

works....

Ooh la la... got my MX610 today and it ROCKS. Lots of buttons, no delay in rotating, nice size, etc.

I highly recommend this mouse.
