Couple of questions.

We just received our SW2007 and I'm in no hurry to update and have a new set of problems to contend with.
1. We are running alienwares that can take advantage of the SW2007 64bit version. Is anyone running this and have they noticed any performance increases over the old SW2006 32 bit version?
2. We are running PDMWorks in 2006. Will I have to do a bunch of reconfiguring Admin stuff in PDMWorks?
3. Any other general problems or things to watch out for when doing the upgrade?

Thanks

Do a search here for '64 bit'.

There should not be any perforamnce increase, because all 64-bit does is it removes the limitation of how much memory can be read... otherwise there is no performance increase.

You will have to upgarde your vault to PDMworks 07

Don't upgrade your SW, do a new install!

In actuality, there may even be a slight performance decrease with 64bit as the internal system has to move twice as much data to perform the same task.

For what its worth. I have a dual boot computer and have solidworks loaded on both 32 bit on the win xp 32 bit version and 64 bit on the win xp 64 bit version.

I ran ship in a bottle on both several times and the 64 bit version was 2 seconds faster than the 32 bit version. This said 2 seconds is realy a wash.

But becouse I run both versions I only have 2gigs of ram.

Like Scott said the only advantage to the 64 bit version is if you have over 3gigs of memory.
