Solidify V/S Thickening

What is the difference between edit solidify and edit thicken?
 
Hi,
Thickening:
Think that you have surface and you can input the thickness use full for sheet metal

Solidify
When the surface is closed you FILL boundary surface volume and transform this volume into solid part.
