I have been working on my loading skills and ASCE 7, and as I was browsing around I ran into a web site where I saw something that puzzles me. It has to do with the Importance factor and the condition where we have Pg < 20 lbf/ft^2. The example they give is on page 24 of the following pdf file ( I am puzzled how we immediately changed the I factor from 0.8 to 1.2. Is that supposed to automatically change the factor just because the Pg is less than 20, or is it a mistake?

Appears to be a mistake. I would use the I=0.8 for a per the Importance Factor Table for a Category I storage.

As EOR's we should take the responsibility to design our structures to support the components we allow in our design per that industry standards.
