Has anyone been able to program a Panelview using the passthru feature of the 5/05 to channel 0 using the DF1 protocol. I am having problems in connecting to the Panelview and downloading. I can upload but not download.

Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance

Are you using the PIC driver? If so is RSLINX set up to run as an application or service?

Do you have an ethernet prot on the PLC? Its much easier of you do.

Check the configuration in PanelBuilder is compatible with the firmware revision on your Panelview. This caught me out initially.

i had this problem last week...advice from rockwell tech support waas to write the program from my laptop to a memory card then plug the card into the panelview

serial coms to the panelview is "less than optimised" was the phrase used

Thank you for the replies,

I am using a 9300 RADES to dial in and connect to the network, My Panel is a Panelview 550 K5A16 rev B FRN 4.41

I am using RSLinx Lite version 2.42

I can't use a memory card as the site is roughly 8 hours away and have to rely on the communications through the RADES, hence the need to be able to download through the pass thru port.

So far I am having no luck in getting it to work. Hopefully by wednesday as it has to be installed and commisioned by monday :/ Gotta love those deadlines.

Thanks again for the replies and will update when/if i get it going

I seem to recall that the DF1 driver needs RSLinx to stopped, you need to set it as an application instead of a service.

I am also assuming you are not using a PIC module.

What is 9300 RADES?

A 9300 RADES is the remote access dial in ethernet switch that A-B supplies.

So no PIC

I will try running the RSLinx as an application instead of a service.

Thanks for the reply

I may have misdirected you regarding RSLinx.

You may also be able to download through ethernet. I have done it before, you have to set up the routing table, and ther are some others this you need to set. Contact AB for further details.
