Slat conveyor transition

I am working on moving ceramic tile down a conveyor line and need ideas to transition from a previously installed slat conveyor to a belt type conveyor. The products that we produce are of various shapes that have curves and edges that can fall inbetween the gap of a transition from slat to slat or belt to belt.

Use a slider-pan, or small gravity-section with bearing supported rollers (e.g. Hytrol or Omni), between head- and tail-pulleys. If parts will get stuck on the non-powered section due to small size, then you will need to use a knife-edge on your belt conveyor. See page 9 of the attachment for example.

We occasionally use a small diameter "gap fill" conveyor roller, depending on the size of the gap. I think it's only an inch or so in diameter. If it's a large gap, I think DVD has the right approach by adding a bed of rollers.

Put a twist in the slat conveyor and let the parts slide off to the side... onto the adjacent belt conveyor.

Or don't twist it, make the conveyors adjacent, and put a diagonal fence across the slat conveyor.
