When i pattern a sketch, inventor doesnt recognize it as a profile, and thus will not allow me to cut/extrude it. Does anyone know why this is the case?

thanks
Matthew

Dunno what you mean, maybe you need to be a bit more specific, give an example.

Are you making a pattern of features within the sketch? This should work, I use it for bolt patterns, e.g., all the time.

The only reason it wouldn't work is if the features don't form a closed boundary, or (possibly) if the features overlap or come close enough to leave very thin edges. If that occurs, try creating a single feature in the sketch, extrude it, then pattern the resulting feature in the browser tree.

You should almost always pattern a feature rather than a sketch.
Assuming in this case that sketched pattern is the better choice (but I doubt it) When you go to Extude and make sure it the output is Solid (not surface) is there a red cross in the dialog box? If so, click on it and go through the Design Doctor fix of your sketch.

if u r patterning a closed sketch. u have to select every closed boundary when selecting profile for e.g. in extrude command.
But anyway feature extrude is preferred.
