Short belt's splice

Hi guys,

I have a short flat belt:

1. 10 ft long;
2. 48 in wide;
3. 450 fpm for belt speed;
4. 12 inches for pulley diameter

Considering the speed and length, what kind of splice you think will be good? if use mechanical type, any bad effects?

Duct tape.

Providing more detailed information on the application will probably result in better answers than that.

The belt will be used to move dirt or earch. The density is between 70-120 lb/cu ft. That is surface application not underground mining.

Is that enough to understand the situation?
