ANSYS Users,

I am having a little trouble with results interpretation for the SHELL99 element.
Ultimately my goal is to determine the moment/element length for a given
Shell99 element (I am also interested in axial force, but the issue is the
same). The trouble that I am having is in the determination of which
results to use from the output and results data. There seems to be a number
of options, but I am very confused as to which is the correct one.

To summarize the various options I have considered:

1. M(X,Y,Z) - this option requires the creation of a .OUT file and is supposed to be the moment per unit length. The .OUT file contains this result, but it is specified at each of the corner nodes that make up the
element.
2. MMOM(X,Y,Z) - this option is also available in the .OUT file and is supposed to be the member moments for each node in the element. The results from this output matches the element solution through the GUI, but is not in
agreement with the M(X,Y,Z) data from 1.

3. Using ETABLE
a.) Using the GUI - Define ETABLE, Nodal Force Data, MY (This results is not the same magnitude as the others). I was expecting the same results as 1.
b.) Using the GUI - Define ETABLE, By sequence number, SMISC,5. I was expecting this to be the same as a.

To my understanding, ETABLE cannot be used to obtain member forces and moments for Shell99. I have been trying to get the member forces and moments for a shell99 model in the element coordinate system. According to ANSYS Release 9.9 Documentation for Shell99, member forces and moments in element coordinate can only be obtained using file Jobname.OUT. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to create a .OUT file. I would greatly appreciate this if you can instruct me on how to create this .OUT file.

Thanks,
Khoa
