Hi,
I've been doing some experimental testing for the company i work for trying to determine the cutting force needed to shear metal plate for thicknesses up to 50mm with a range of different grade steel.
One of my colleagues has found a formula written by someone called Nosal which was determined experimentally for a limited range of materials and thicknesses. So if your within the ranges the formula works great but outside of that it starts to wander.
anyway I'm trying to find out more information about Nosal and what experiments he (i assume its a he but it couild very well be a she for all i know) did to derive the forumula and just basically try to understand it more so i can relate it to what i'm doing now.
so has anybody on here ever heard of Nosal and be able to provide some useful information or point me in the right direction? i think hes Russian but again thats just a guess as there is very little information in english on him or his work, there might be more in russian but since i don't speak it i've no idea.
can anyone help?
