Hi everyone.....I'm doing pushover analysis of reinforced concrete frame with shear wall. When I try to run analysis in sap2000 without meshing of shear wall I'm getting top displacement approximately 0.25 meters as well as hinges were formed in almost all members.Whereas when I run same problem with meshing of shearwall analysis stopped at 0.05m and there were very few hinges formed in members. Can anyone know how to solve this problem? Why analysis stopped without reaching to maximum displacement say 0.25m?

I am no expert but when I use SAP2000 for any type of shear wall analysis I always insure that my wall is meshed and meshed well (i.e. uniform meshing, no errors in analysis, no weird 'disconnects' between the wall and adjacent members).

So, from my limited knowledge, I think that it is imperative that the wall is meshed and meshed correctly.

So I am confused why you want to even consider any displacements determined through analysis when your wall isn't meshed.

Thanks Adam for your nice comments. I found the error why I'm getting this problem. One more thing I want to ask that when I'm running pushover analysis. Hinges are formed very quickly in shear wall i.e. shear wall reaches maximum concrete and steel stress after a few displacement and sap2000 stopped analysis. Is there any way I can proceed my analysis so that all members yields and I can get more displacement..?

Best Regards
Ajmal

As far as I understand it, although my experience using pushover analysis is limited, pushover load cases can be force or displacement controlled. This is defined in the static pushover case data window in SAP2000.

It sounds like you might be having the analysis terminate after a certain displacement or force is reached. Try modifying this parameter to allow more hinges to form. Again, I don't have much experience here, so maybe it is something else entirely.
