Hi All,

I'm currently struggling to work out what the shear lag factor would be for a 'I' section in tension.
The connection is bolted through the top flange and the web only.
I'm trying to use Case 2 from Table D3.1 of the AISC guide; however struggling to define X for the equation (1 - X / L).
Presumably somewhere between 0.7 (web only connection) and 0.85 (flange connection)?

Does anyone have some insight?

Thanks!

ProblemDelta, I think you are on the right track but I'm tempted to say use 0.7 purely because you only have 1 flange engaged.

See bottom of the table for definition of expressions. Also, I think you can use case 7 instead.
