How do one send 3D solid model data to GM if you don't have GCX? Does anyone know approx how much it costs & from where can we buy?
Is any convenient method to send 3D model to GM?
From what I am aware, GM stopped accepting any data from any means except thru iman/teamcenter. The last of the Autoweb transfers has been discourged if not stopped. They have not accepted tape/cd's etc for some time. Sorry.
You can still send data into GM via Autoweb, although if you don't have Teamcenter Automotive Edition, GM will nag you about it big time. Most suppliers in the Tire/Wheel Systems side of GM use Autoweb to send data in, but use TcAE to retreive data from GM.
When sending data into GM (North America aka NAO) via Autoweb, you must send the math to the Vendor Compliance Process mailbox. Drawings are exported out of NX into CGMs using the GM toolkit, then sent in to the North American Engineering mailbox.
I believe most divisions of GM are pretty far ahead of Tire-Wheel Systems in regards to math compliance. I'd seen the 11x17 format a couple of years prior to that group actually switching over to it.
To be honest, Autoweb has changed their interface to a java-based application that can be ran through a typical company-wide internet line. It's much faster now than it used to be (we were forced to use dial-up previously). Takes about 2 minutes to send a 10 to 15 MB file now. I like it much better than TcAE as far as speed is concerned.
