Hi, we have an old servo drive from Stromag and the IGBT modules on the drive are not working properly. The IGBT modules are SKM200GB102D.

Given that this module is somewhat ancient, could someone please advise on what would be the current equivalent model to swap out these IGBTs for.

Thanks

The device initially used in the Stromag servo drive is a first generation IGBT. Currently the manufacturers are selling 7th generation devices. The cross reference list from Semikron is helpful, but also the suggested replacements are already discontinued (2nd generation IGBTs). When buying from unknown suppliers be aware of fakes.

Infineon, successor of Siemens Semiconductors, the supplier of the IGBT chips used in this module, will discontinue their 2nd generation IGBT modules in 62 mm very soon (last order date Sep. 30th 2023).

Newer generation IGBTs may work in the setup if the DC-link inductance is low. But you need some expertise to select proper Rg-values.

Some more information:

Infineon will not discontinue all 2nd Gen. IGBTs in 62mm. One chip variant for fast switching is still marked as active:

FFXXXR12KS4 (XXX: nominal current in A)

See:
If you drive operates at high switching frequency, this might also be a suitable alternative.
