Self weight in Time History Analysis

Hello,

I want to perform a time history analysis on a structure subjected to dynamic load. However, I do not know exactly how to account for self weight, or whether I should ignore it. The two approaches I can think of are:

1) Ignore self-weight
2) Perform static analysis using the self-weight as loading, use the resulting displacements as initial conditions in the dynamic analysis
3) Consider the self-weight as a dynamic load of constant value, essentially add the self-weight to the dynamic load at each time step during the time history analysis

Which one of the three is the correct approach? Or is there any other possible way to do it? Which approach do commercial structural analysis software use?

I wonder why "Xprivate" has almost exactly the same posting in the FeMap forum ?

Inherently, don't you has one constant load and one time dependent load ... so two loads applied to the model ... no?
