Hello everyone,
I am working on seismic analysis of steel frames having height of 12' and it is erected at 4th floor of the building. Basically the steel frame is used to support multi level parking machines.
My question is, how shall I calculate the lateral forces acting on the steel frame using Force based design approach. The height of steel frame from floor level is 12', but the system is at 4th floor.
I would also like to know how to do seismic analysis of this steel frame structure which is inside the building.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

What code are you wkrkong withight help get you some appropriate advice.

Usually there is provisions for components or parts in codes which is the way you work out an appropriate acceleration to design an element fixed at some height within a structure. Search your local code for these types of provisions.
