Section clipping problem

I'm trying to use the section clipping option, on a part that I have imported from Pro-Engineer. The clipping tool willl only seem to allow me to move the plane up to 397mm in the direction that I want, unfortunately this doesn't reach the beginning of the part in question due to the coordinate system it was created on.
Am I using the clipping tool incorrectly, or should I have moved the part to the centre of the coordinate system first?

Probably should have addded that I am using CosmosDesignstar.
