Hello,

I am hoping to get some clarity regarding a TPE we use for a kitchen sink strainer.

Background: We make a clog-resistant, non-stick kitchen sink strainer. We are being required to support our "claim" of the non stick nature of the product. We find it to be non-stick because of the smooth finish and the SEBS-based TPE material used, however we aren't sure what characteristics of SEBS-based materials, if any, would lead to a naturally non-stick surface.

I have been doing some searching and can't find any specific information.

Is SEBS naturally -phobic like teflon type materials? It sure seems like it anecdotally, but I am not familiar enough with the chemical makeup to say exactly what it is that makes it so.

Any thoughts from the collective would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Pat

SEBS is strong and flexible, has excellent heat and UV resistance and is easy to process. It is produced by partial and selective hydrogenating of styrene-butadiene-styrene copolymer (SBS)1 which improves the thermal stability, weathering and oil resistance, and makes SEBS steam sterilisable.
