SCADA Message format

Can anyone help me with SCADA system.I want to know how many blocks of data can be transffered in one message.can it be less than 16 blocks? Also can analog as well as digital values within the same message ?and also whether different analog or digital values such as voltage,energy etc can be transffered in the same message? Thanks in advance.

It would seem that it would all depend on what system and what kind of message transport is being used. SCADA is a very general term that covers many vastly different implementations.

As davidbeach noted, it still largely depends on the "message transport." The key is to determine the protocol that will be used & then look at the standards for that protocol. Some common ones are IEC60870, Modbus, DNP, & recently IEC61850. All are 'message transports' or protocols that have different, but similar, function.
