I have to specify a material equivalent to the ASTM A672 C70 but produced in SAW rather than ERW. Which ASTM can I use?
Moreover wich is the thickness limit for the ERW process? Is it possible to use ERW for thickness above 30mm.

Thanks

Typical ERW carbon steel pipe maximum thickness is about 16mm. It is not practicable above 30mm thickness. For possible substitution I would look at either API 5L Grade X70 or go with a seamless pipe specification.

OK thanks for the answer, in any case the C70 of ASTM A672 has yeld strenght of 260 MPa, while X70 has 485 MPa. Do you know any SAW pipe standard with yeld strenght of about 260 MPa?
The only one that I found is the ASTM A 333 Gr.6, even though is a low temperature Carbon Steel.

You can look at lower strength grades of API 5L pipe.
