can anybody give a really good hint to model a no-compression member in linear sap2000 analysis
 
Seem to me that the only way is to do iteration manually (activate/deactivate). Very tiring and not easy to get convergence in many cases I tried.
 
Sap2000 has nonlinear tension only and compression only members, but they exhibit this behavior only in a nonlinear time history analysis. So, the only way is to perform a nonlinear analysis and set the solution so that it simulates the static behavior. To do this:

1. Use a time-varying load with a very mild changes in time,
like a line with a very low slope in LOAD-TIME diagram.

2. Set the damping a high value (say .9)

3. Perform the nonlinear analysis.

You can't have nonlinear nlink elements while doing a linear analysis in SAP2000.
