I wonder if anyone can help me, I have drawn a circular profiled rubber seal which fits in to a dove tail groove on the outside of a solid circular casting, i have drawn the seal to scale and have produced a drawing for the seal to be manufactured, it is made from rubber and will be made about 30mm on the circumferance smaller than the groove on the casting to make a nice tight fit, my problem is that when i mate the two parts the seal 'dissapears' into the casting and my only method of building the assembly is to save the seal as a temporary part and make the diameter bigger and then insert this temporary part into the assembly to make it LOOK right.
I dont like doing this as the temporary part and the actual part could get mixed up and create problems.

can anyone help ?

This is a perfect application for Configurations. Have one config for the "as-made" seal & another for the installed seal.
