Hi

I am looking for a rubber gasket , 9mm and 60 shore .how can calculate the tension and pressure if i squeeze that inside a clamp to protect an electrical cable? basically i want to see if its possible to calculate the force applied from gasket to cable .

I'm running on not much sleep at the moment, but I think you can just apply the reduction in diameter (from your clamp) to the outer wall as a displacement. Shigley's has a formula for cylinders under differential pressure. Roarks probably has the same formula.

You could also make an FEA model of it. The pictures would likely be more impressive than the hand calc.
