I have a Programmable operator interface that gets damage because of the environment that it's in and needs to be moved away from the PLC 150ft, it uses RS-232, but the manufacture says that with RS-232 can go up to only 50ft without having problems, is there something to convert from RS-232 to another protocol that can go the 150ft then go back to RS-232?
Thanks

At what speed? RS-232 can go WAY farther than 50', depending upon baudrate... I'm running a bi-directional link for 200'+ at 9,600.

Try a RS-232 to RS-485 converter. They have port powered models that need no power supplies.

Take a look at B&B Electronics for serial converters.
